Over the past couple of years, I have grown from a small custom furniture maker to a full time crafter of all the things that I love to build. I have gone from solely showing at one gallery and only doing a few local craft fairs, to taking on shows all over Wisconsin. I have met so many craftspeople who have helped me grow my passion into a legitimate business. This year, I plan to focus on finishing up some custom furniture projects and take on a few more craft shows. I am learning how to better juggle commission work with production work, also how to set boundaries and plan in some much needed breaks.

I couldn't have done any of this without the help of my husband, Ryan, who is an integral part of Square One Design. Many of you know him as a behind the scenes guy. He is at most shows with me, helping to set up the displays (not to mention designing them himself), he sands all the work and does most of the finishing. He always has a smile and usually never complains. He is incredibly supportive and my biggest cheerleader.
First Delivery of the New Year!

This piece was designed and built for Bridget and Matt DeLoge. I've known Bridget for years as we are both members of the Cedarburg Artist's Guild. She is a very talented stained glass artist (be sure to check out her studio as part of the Covered Bridge Studio Tour!). Bridget and Matt wanted to replace an existing two drawer console table in their kitchen. I thought it would be fun to mimic the lid of one of my boxes as the drawer fronts.

Art in the Burg - Saturday, March 15

Join me and 75 other fine artists and fine crafters for the 12th annual Art in the Burg event at the Cedarburg High School Field House. $5 admission - proceeds support CHS fine arts programs.
I love this show because it is so easy to do. Student volunteers help carry all the displays and artwork in. We are able to set up and tear down super quickly. It is located only a mile from my home, so travel time is nothing! I hope to debut some brand new framed mini fabric collages. These pieces are a throwback to the work that I was doing 20+ years ago! Hope to see you there!
